Please help

Does the A.I.R pollution pump divert air to the cat under normal operating temperature? I guess this means when it's cold, the A.I.R pump dumps air into the exhaust manifold?

Thanks

Steve

The pump is always pumping air. I know this for a fact because when I removed the emissions garbage, I took the hoses off the air pump and left the rest of the pump alone. I started teh car and it blew air out the disconnected hoses. The car couldn't have been warm since it was 20* and snowing when I did this after the car sat for about 3 hours

As I recall the pump only pumps air on warm up to get the cat up to temp quickly so as to burn emissions properly. I removed mine along with my cat to improve performance. On reaching operating temp I think any air being pumped is diverted out of the system. I did know all the details cos I investigated it before removal but I'm a bit hazy on it now. I can look it up in my manual if you require. Just email me.
