327 question....

Can you bore and stroke a 305 to a 327. I want a street /auto x engine not a drag one. I know that the biggest you can get a 305 is a 334 or something but can it de made to a 327?

C6Sp,

The 305 design already has a longer crank throw (stroke) than the original 327 design, so increasing displacement to 327 cubes will require some increase in bore and stroke, so the "327" you build will be nothing like the 327 that Chevy sold in so many millions of cars. The original 327 has a 4" bore and 3.25" stroke, and boring a 305 to 4" will almost certainly expose a water jacket somewhere, or be so dangerously thin that the block would have no strength.

i don't know much about scca or auto cross but i think there is a 310 cid limit. i think if anything you'd want to shorten the stroke to make the rpms climb faster.
