tat tat tat tat tat tat......

car wont start and it makes a tattat noise when cranking... its not the battery so is my starter bad????

Check battery voltage, battery connections all (4). If these check out you could have a bad soleniod. Of course a replacment solenoid costs nearly as much as a cheap starter.

sounds like starter ,but you should check to see how much power is at the starter before yopu replace it.

Your battery voltage is low, check it with a multimeter, when cranking and when not cranking. Below 12 volts is not good. And indicates the battery is bad or not fully charged.
