a 335 Stroker??

I've heard of these some where but am wondering if someone can tell me more about them. What they consist of and if it would work on my 305??

When stroking an engine, the basic idea is to increase the stroke of the piston (i.e. 305-335 and 350-383). This is how you obtain the larger displacement. It is sometimes necessary to mill the engine block to ensure clearance of the rotating assembly.

Waste of money... you can get a 350 long block and rebuild that for less money than you can build one of those things, and have a better motor to boot.

To build a 335, basically you need a 400 crank that's had its main journals turned down to the regular small block journal size, and your 305 block bored .030" over, and a set of special pistons. Then you get to grind on your block for clearance. And when you get through doing all that, you'll still be stuck with 305 heads, and the guy that took the same money and built a 350 will be going faster than you.

Well.. first you have to do some math to find out exactly how to get 335ci =p But putting a crank with a longer stroke in, or boring out the cylinders would be the way to do it. Probably a combination of the two.

You need to replace a lot of things...crank, rods, pistons, bearings...and some. I don't know if you can make a 335 with readily available parts. Is there anough metal in that block, anyway? =p

agreed.....the 335 is a complete waste of time!! do a 383 and you run worlds faster!! and also the stupid 305 heads... think about what was said on these posts.. its not even close to "worth it" .
