MAF->SD Starter Enable Relay + VATS Issues
The vehicle in question is an 89 Camaro converted from MAF to Speed Density using a 91 or 92 TPI wiring harness. According to this schematic:
, the VATS module provides a ground for the Starter enable relay, as long as VATS passes (or is disabled in the EPROM). The yellow wires going to pins "E" and "C" are hot when starting. If the dark green wire (pin B, going to the VATS module) is manually grounded, the relay clicks and the car will start and run great, but if the connection is left alone (stock configuration), nothing happens when trying to start. The only possible thing that could be causing the relay not to click is if the ground connection is not made by VATS, but VATS is disabled. We are not getting any VATS related DTC's. Since VATS is disabled anyway, grounding the dark green wire that is supposed to get its ground from VATS seems like an OK solution, but I'd much rather not have to do that. Any idea why the VATS module would allow fuel, but will not flip the ground switch to allow the starter enable relay coil to energize?
Thanks!
Thanks!
