found this thing on craigslist.com,$650 for the complete setup. its got 123k on it, but since i would be planning a rebuild/stroker anyway its not as big of a concern. what do you guys think? too many things with too much wear at this point, or is it still a good option? i have to call and ask, but if it comes w/ the tranny i figure i could sell it back to recoup some cost, what are you thoughts.

Im not sure, but if it were me, i would not want to buy an engine from anyone who doesn't know the difference b/w an LS1 and an LT1.

If all you want is parts, then you're probably ok. But still it's a crapshoot on the electrical parts.
Since the seller is in your area, at least you can go look at it first. That's a plus.
Nobody knows for sure what they're buying when it comes to used engines, unless you are personally acquainted with the seller. And even then it's iffy.
I'd be more inclined to shop for an entire car that was totaled in a rear ender. That way you'd be more certain that it was at least running when it was wrecked, and you could tell the mileage too.
There might be some good parts leftover that you could sell after the swap too.
