help me make this decision PLEASE
okay, i found a 1986 camaro z28 with tpi, it has 200 thousand miles on it.
let me list out what is wrong:
needs a new radiator core
ball joints and struts are bad
driver side floor has hole in it (carpet covering it)...typical chevy
dent in passenger front fender (can be replaced with junkyard parts)
and um, yeah thats about it for problems.
it had an oil leak in the valve cover but she got that fixed
it had dual flomasters with no cat, the engine and transmission both are solid, run great, and the car is still very fast.
so, for 600 dollars, would you invest in this car?
the car never left her stranded and its never had any major repair except for replacement of sensors and such.
plzplzplz help.
another thing: girlfriend thinks its a poor decision even though she has not driven/seen the car...heh typical woman...

If the floor is rusted out, then what else is not far behind, or maybe even worse? No point in pouring money into a rust bomb.
Sounds to me like it's too far gone to save already.

200,000 miles and no major rapairs? I'd be afraid that at least one major problem is due up anytime. You'll pay 600 now, but you may pay so much more to get it in any sort of dependable contition, plus that rust problem will hanut you no matter how hard you try to fix it. I'd save my pennies and put a litte more into purchasing a car with perhaps fewer miles and a little better condition.

yeah
i can see what you guys are saying, but this is pretty much just a car that i want to do some work to it and i dont care if it has rust, im not going to have it for more than a year or two
and if it all comes down to it, if something goes so hay-wire on it to where its way to expensive to fix, i will just part it out and sell it.
so this is gonig to be my car that i drive just because i need a car desperatly and i have 700 bucks.

If you don't need it for something to depend on, go for it. You may luck out and get something that holds together for another 200,000 miles
