Please help this is driving me nuts!!
Hi, I love Camaro's but my car is driving me nuts literally! The problems are the car idles on 500rpm everytime, when I turn on the lights the alternator goes from just under 13 to the half way mark between 13 and the other number, the car has no power and there seems to be alot of oil ontop of the engine under where the runners are and finally when I do accelerate fast it feels like the front of the car is shaking, I've replaced the knock sensor and the oxygen sensor which helped with the idle and the acceleration but now its back to the way it was, the car will idle about 650 rpm which is normal then after about 15 min it will drop to 500 rpm when the car's parked it idles fine at 800 but when I go into drive everything seems to go to hell. Please help me fix these problems I'm at the point where I want to sell the car and get a Skyline GTR but I love these cars and their unique looks .

Sounds like you need a new alternator. Does the voltage go up at all as you rev up the engine?

Yeah it does, however the guy that reconditioned it came out and tested it with his voltemeter and it was about 13.5 if I remember correctly. Could an altenator be the cause of all the power problems as well?

Have you pulled your trouble codes?
Have a look at the IAC connections and maybe some of your vaccum lines.
Man, if you've got the kind of cash to buy a Skyline, why are you buying reconditioned parts for your IROC? These cars are so tempramental, not to mention they need tlc so go with the new stuff.
