EGR confusion
Hey guys Im kinda paranoid now after reading how the EGR crap works. I have no lines running to my exhaust because i had the cats removed and straight piped. What would be in my best interest to put a block off valve or run the lines back into the exhaust? I heard the ecm will retard timing and stuff and thats no good.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Then what purpose do the lines serve that were running to the cats? And i nthat case would removing all the smog crap mess with the ECM?

AIR... air injection. The purpose of the cats is to finish burning any unburned or incompletely burned fuel; obviously oxygen is required in order for that to happen; those lines supply fresh air to the cats.
I would not recommend just hacking stuff off your car; it's not impossible that someday it will be required in your area in order for you to continue to be able to license the car. It isn't costing you any power, just as a cat wouldn't. Hacking is rarely a good idea.

Wow I really was confused.....Where do those lines from the cats go to then? Smog stuff? One is just dangling there and the other is gone now.

Air injection system.
The "smog pump" pumps air into a valve, which sends the air to the manifolds when the motor is cold and to the cats through those lines after the motor warms up.
