Thanks

thanks guys. the guy that im purchasing from really babied the car and took good care of it, and as far as I know everything works well on it. I forgot to mention that he also had a custom exhaust system put on it with a flowmaster. I was thinking for my first mod to go ahead and do the headers but 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 im pretty sure i want to stay with the 305 just becuase nobody gives it any credit and i want to see what it can do. but do you have to get a computer chipif you do headers? im not really in touch with all the computer stuff.

you shouldn't need a to change chips if all you do is headers, make sure you get a bung welded on for the o2, if the headers don't come with one.

No need for a new chip - get 1 5/8 or even 1 1/2 if you're on a budget (flowtech or edelbrock). Get the O2 bung like ede said, headers should complement the flowmaster cat back nicely. You only need to go to 1 3/4 if you're running some major power through there - 1 5/8 is plenty for just about anything a 305 could put out.
