General questions-engine guys could help me in a heartbeat *hint* *hint*

Hey guys heres whats up

Ive had an 88 350 (half of one anyway) formula in my driveway for a while and last couple of days i've been trying to get as many parts off of it as i can

Im working on getting the tranny off and i cant for the life of me turn the crank with the center bolt that the haynes manual is talking about, i used an impact wrench, breaker bar, i got it tightened as far as i could, hell im even able to take the bolt out with the impact... thing just wont turn (so i cant get all the bolts off the drive plate)

Keep in mind the thing has no hood and no valve cover so water and various **** has gotten in there, any ideas on how to turn the drive plate?

also think the block is worth keeping? i dont think it has any cracks

thanks guys

btw ive already removed all the spark plugs, oil plug, oil filter, and a ****load of water came out of basically every orifice...it was even in the exhaust manifolds!

You don't have to turn anything to get the trans off.

Just unbolt the trans from the engine. Pull it out of the car. The converter will stay on the flex plate, and it will make a mess, but you can clean that up; and then you can get to the converter bolts with a box end wrench, or if you get real desperate, a blue-tip wrench.

Take the spark plugs out and then see if you can turn it by the balancer bolt. If not, then I would be suspect of some larger issues.

You said you haven't taken the tranny off yet, sounds stupid but do you have the tranny in gear while you're trying to turn the crank? That would help.
