305 -> 383 Questions

I am looking at replacing my 305 TPI with a 383. I am thinking about switching to carb due to the high cost of staying with an EFI setup. The 383 has been dynoed on the engine stand at 400HP and 440TQ. I know that will need to be get a new fuel pump. Any suggestions? Any suggestions on which carb would be the best? How do I make the transmission work correctly with a carb setup?

Switching to carb isn't as cheap as you might think at first pass.... you need an intake, a carb, a distributor, and a FPR. That's over $500 right there. Plus countless incidental things that will nickel and dime you to death.

For about that same amount of money, you could use a Stealth Ram, which would support the power level of that motor reasonably well. Have you considered that?

I've have been checking that out and you may be right. The motor comes with an intake. I have been comparing all the cost of carb to a SuperRam which is at least $1500. I will look at the StealthRam. Thanks

It looks like a Stealth Ram is going to cost me around $1500 - $2000 by the time I got the new injectors and TB. Now I'm starting to rethink the idea of the carb. I can get the carb done for around half that.
