Can someone help me with a 350 or 383???
Hello all, I have a 87 Monte CArlo SS, Im sorry this is like the only place I can get detailed help on my situation. Well here it goes, I am wanting to dump the orig. 305 and drop in a 383 with a miniram setup, can someone tell me what all I would need? I know that question is kinda broad, but I am not too car smart, I am in the process of learning, but I would like to start building this engine ASAP, and I need to tell the guy what I want. What I would like is around 350-400hp and going around 13.5 in the quarter, but I still woudl like decent gas mileage I would love to get 18mpg, is that at all possible? I know why should I care? But I like the car, and I have heard it done, just not sure how, and this will be a daily driver. Also I have a 200r4 tranny, if I rebuild this, will it withstand the power?
Well please let me know something, I'd really appreciate it guys.
I was thinking about the Edelbrock performer RPM heads and cam
Thnx in advance.

As for size restraints - the 350 should bolt right back onto the tranny and into the compartment. Hood clearance might be a problem - no promises.
Otherwise - the motor should fit. As for the tranny? IMHO, I'd swap in a th-350 or 400 with a shift kit. Will hold up to the power better.
