I'm about to put a new intake, carb, and vacuum advance distributor on my ride. I will eliminate the emissions system and the computer control. I want to know all about any problems before I get into it. Will it affect the tranny at all? Will it affect my dash readouts and guages? I've never done any of this before so I would appreciate any words of wisdom.

Gauges will be fine.

You will lose the torque converter lockup, you'll need to add a switch to work it.

I've heard differing stories about the torque converter. One guy was saying it worked off the vacuum (smog pump) and another said it was worked by the computer. Whats up with that? I need a toggle switch now?
