Timing light acts "funny" when you attach the vacuum advance...
I check my timing without the vacuum advance, the light works as it should (It's a snap-on light BTW).
Once I hook up the vacuum advance light, the light acts all funny. It'll seem to "miss".
What could be causing this - the pickup coil being faulty?

What do you mean by the light will seem to miss... Does it kind of flicker instead of being a steady blink? Or are you just seeing the timing mark go all over the place?
Also what kind of light is it--the pickup that is? The old school kind you practically have to disable a cylinder to use...? Or is it an inductive pickup?
