This is so weird!!!!

I was fixing the power locks and when I was in the car (with it turned off of course) I accidentally hit the gas pedal. Welllll when I went to go start her up it made a grinding noise and wouldn't start! This happened to my last Trans Am too (also an '88). I wonder why this happens to these cars? I doubt it's supposed to...What do I need to do to fix it? (Hope I dont need to get a new starter)

It car never had any starter problems before I hit the gas by accident. It is not a VERY loud grinding noise, but it's pretty loud. I was thinking maybe the shims, or bolts, or something got moved/loosened/broke or something. Any ideas????
