91 RS 305 TBI not starting

To anyone that can help it would be greatly appreciated...
I've got a 91 RS TBI 305 and over the winter it sat in the garage pretty much on empty. I removed all the A/C gear and installed a non-a/c heater box. I connected the wires matching the colors and put everything back together. Now it won't start. She cranks but just won't start. I checked the Fuel Pump/ECM 20a fuse and its ok. I can hear the fuel pump relay but not the fuel pump. I removed my fuel pressure guage and put a vacuum pump on it and was able to draw fuel through the line but when I try to start it there is no pressure reading on the gauge. Any suggestions before I go and rip out the old fuel pump (and my hair...)

Thanks.

When you turn the key to the "on" postition, do you hear the pump buzz for about 2 seconds?

pump

I don't think so... you know I've never payed that much attention to it before. I can hear the click noise from the front (relay i assume) but nothing from the back.

sounds like your starter or starter solenoid is out... if you can hear the click, its probably not the solenoid because the click is the drivegear sliding to the flexplate... i had the same problem with my 91RS... went down to carquest, got a remaufactured starter for $60 and i havent had any problems since

You can test the pump by pulling the connector off the oil pressure switch above the filter and jumper the two pin connector there. It provides power directly to the pump so if it works itll come on. Although, the engine probably builds enough oil pressure while cranking to trip the switch so the pump should have come on after it cranked a bit.

thanks

thanks for the help... got her running again. Problems with the fuel lines... I jumped the pump tester and it worked so had to come up with another solution and found it.

Thanks again.
