'89 T/A 305TPI won't start after hitting bump.

After driving over a small bump, my '89 trans am with a 305 TPI F-code engine stalled, and now it won't start. The idiot lights don't come on when ignition is on, and the starter motor doesn't crank. The only power is to the headlights, dome and dash illumination.

I tested the battery and it has 12.5 volts.
Fuses under the steering wheel are all good.
What the hell??? Please help

You have a blown fusible link.

There are 2 of them: they're in a little metal tube right above and behind the starter. Use some 14 gauge wire to replace the blown one if you can't find the right size fusible link wire for going in a #12 wire.

Thanks a #!*$load!
Do I have to remove the starter to even get a look at the metal tube or can it be accessed
from up top?
Thanks again

I think you can probably remove the wires from the starter and pull them up out of the tube and work on them from above. Seems like that's how I fixed it once when it happened to me.

OBTW — if you pull the wires out, pull a piece of string into the tube with the wires so it's a little easier to get them back in tehre when you're through.

Thank you again,
I'm gonna work on it tomorrow as I'm at work and the car's not here. I'll let you know what happens.
