How should I adjust wheel bearings???

I have been told so many different ways, well not ways just tightness, that its crazy.

After the bearings are packed and the spindle is reassembled, install and torque the hub nut to 18-20 ft/lb while rotating the spindle. This seats the bearings fully in the races and displaces excess grease. If you don't have a torque wrench, 18-20 ft/lb is about what a spark plug is torqued. Without turning or moving the spindle, loosen the nut to relax the pressure, then retighten by hand/fingers only. Align the lock with the hole in the spindle and install the pin. If the holes do not align, tighten only to the point where you can insert the pin.

Ditto on the opposite side.

heres and easy and faster way i use at the shop. tighten the nut with a small amont of force, one u cant turn the nut, back it of to the first position wher u can slide the coter pin in.
