GTA intake swap?

I seem to remember that back in '89 or so people with Irocs were putting the intake/filter combo from GTAs in their cars and seeing improvement in performance. I seem to remember that the GTA filters were a canister or something.
Anybody know anything about this or am I having hallucinations?

M5,

Some of the early TA/GTA air cleaners were teh "garbage can" style. This is a cylindrical steel housing with an inside-out air flow. These are woefully inadequate for high volume air flow without modification. You might be more succesful in modifying the existing air cleaner housing. Check the Tech Articles at the front end of the site for tips.

Mach,

Dont waste your time with a GTA intake: To restrictive. Try going with an after market intake.
