Oil pressure switch on a 2.8

is it located right near the oil filter and oil pressure sender? Mine is leaking oil out - how do these things stay put? this one is quite loose.

Oh and what is the purpose of the switch?

On a fuel injected engine the oil pressure switch controls the on/off operation of the fuel pump! Once the oil pressure reaches a certain level the fuel pump kicks on which usually only takes a split second once the key is turned over!! Once the oil pressure drops to a certain level after the key is turned off then the fuel pump shuts off which again usually only takes a split second once the key is turned off!! As far as keeping one in I can't help ya there because I've never had to replace one but I do know that if you unhook the thing your fuel pump won't work!! This is of course assuming that your 2.8 is FI!!

Whats the best way to replace it? Should I do it during an oil change or can i pull it out, catch the oil in a pan and put a new one in?

I've never replaced mine so I wouldn't know! I doubt you're going to lose that much oil by taking the sensor out but I could be wrong! Personally, I would probably just do it during an oil change after you've removed the oil filter!
