well damn!! i bought the motor from a "friend" of mine that supposedly knows motors. he says it was a 350 (was out of a wrecked 1987 camaro) i/he never bothered to check the numbers (that was REALLY stupid on my part), learning experience. i have been thinking it was a 350 all this time and even bought a damn holley stealth ram. turns out ok though i have been looking for an excuse to go with an LS1 and T56. thanks for the reply!

lol i always look at the balancer most cases a stock 350 has a thinner looking balancer while your 305 balancer is bigger. i got burned $450 on a 305 before and ever since then i can tell them apart.

just looking at a balancer wont do it you need to take a list of the engine casting numbers with you anytime you go to look at an engine to buy so you dont get burned on one again ....you can go to nastyz28 and copy and print out their whole casting number pages and take them with you for a reference
