maybe some one can help me out.when ever the weather gets hot my car starts to act funny.First of all it will start but the idol is erratic , fluctuates from 500 - 1000 rpm. then when i put it in drive and give it gas it dies.When ever it acts funny I get the SES light, but when I try to retrieve the codes (using "rj5679 tool" AKA PAPER CLIP) it just gives me code 12.Then recently it stoped giving me any codes at all just a solid SES light.Whats up with that? any help would be greatly apreciated

When you get the solid ses, does it at least start and die?
You didn't try to start it with the paperclip in did you?
Are you getting fuel rail pressure?
Try disconnecting the MAF and try starting it up like that.

 

thanks for the reply.i'll get the scanner next payday.i also take the paperclip out before i start it.just wondering, what would happen if i did start it with the paperclip in it?as for the ses light, it comes on after i start the car.the car starts and idols (badly) and i can rev it without dying.however, when i put it in drive and give it gas the car dies.as for the fuel pressure, i don't have a guage yet so i can't tell if i have pressure or not.as for the MAF i will try that next time it acts up, it's hasn't been that hot in a couple of days so the cars been running fine.thanks for the reply and i'll keep you posted.
