I have a stock 1986 iiroc-z. What should my temp. be ? Recently i have noticed that my running temp on the highway during the afternoons without my ac running averaged about 220. When i turn on my ac. it drops. that got me looking at the fan and what temp. it cut on at. I started the car and let it run while watching the fan. It started at 240. Is this normal? Should I look at fan relays? Water pump and thermostat are new.

 

Your setup is functioning normally. If it bothers you then get a relay that kicks on sooner. Your gauge could also be out of calibration. I have headers and the gauge reads 20* hotter cuz the sensor is next to them. I think relays run about 50 bucks. You can get them to kick on at 185.
