What's it take to eliminate my ECM?
I have a LG4 305 with the CC QuadraJet. I want to eliminate the ECM in my car and had some questions. Basically what I need to do is swap out the carb and a the distributor and then disconnect the ECM, right? I was thinking of going with an Edelbrock 50-state legal QJet and a Summit blueprint HEI distributor. My main question is if the ECM controls the lockup on the TC or if it controls anything in the tranny on the LG4.

You should be fine as far as the transmition goes. But before you get to carryed away with the joy of ripping out the ecm and the wires find the grey with wite stripe wire and ground it. This will shut off the check engine light.
For emissions the light needs to blink on when the car starts. Is there a way I can have it come on for about 5 seconds and then turn off? I'm sure if there's an electrical engineer somewhere they could tell me how to do this.
Thanks,
Matt

You could get in behind the cluster and rewire it to work with the choke light! It will come on and stay on until the engine is running, just as the check engine light does!
