Gasket matching

Ok, got Felpro 'PrintoSeal' gaskets as recommended by Edelbrock to intall intake on my 305. Only thing is when I had the 'Permatorque' gaskets, they fit up snug and fine, but Edelbrock says "Permatorque=bad, not good, etc.."

Now this PrintoSeal gasket I have (p/n 1206) seems like the whole gasket is meant for larger intakes than are on the manifold. Did I get the wrong gaskets, or can I use them with no problems?

The larger openings in the gaskets should cause no problems with flow. The little turbulence you might generate around the seams won't amount to any measurable flow loss. What the gaskets DO show is the potential size of the ports on an SBC head. Makes one wonder how much flow gain can be had with some port work, doesn't it?

Thanks Vader. Don't think I'll waste time or money porting the heads of an LG4 though.
