Quick question about camshafts........

I was helping my friend clean out his garage last weekend and we found a new comp cams roller cam right in the box with all of the paper work. Because it was for an SBC, my friend let me have it since he had no use for it in his two rustangs. Anyway, this thing looks like its been sitting in storage for while judging from the condition of the box. I looked at the camshaft it seemed ok except the fact that there is some very minor surface rust spots/pits on some of the lobes from some brief exposure to moisture. I could easily rub off the rust with my fingernail. Is this cam shaft still usuable? I looked at the cam card and it seems like a fairly reasonable street cam, so it would definately be worth keeping if I can.

Some minor surface scale won't pose any problems, but you also mentioned pits...if they are deep enough then you could have a problem.
