97 Vortech 350 block same as 91Z TPI 350??
my dad had a new engine put in his 97 Tahoe. and he wants to know If I want it. I was wondering If they are the same blocks the only difference is my type of fuel injection and heads. I want to be able to build this engine on the side and them slap my tpi system on it.

The block in your Camaro is a 2 bolt and the Tahoe block is a 4 bolt but other than that it will work fine - even better since it is slightly stronger than the factory 2 bolt you have in there right now. Both blocks have one-piece rear mains and are set up for Roller Cams so all of that will be no problem. The factory cam in the Tahoe will not be the best for your car's setup however, so you will need to swap the cams or just slap a nice High Perf. cam in there while it's out. The stock Vortec heads that came on the Tahoe are very nice heads but they sadly will not be a direct swappable part to a TPI intake setup. The bolt patterns are different so you will have to either have the intake made to fit the heads or vice-versa. Scoggins Dickey (sp) is working on a TPI intake base that will bolt directly onto the vortec style heads but I don't think it is done yet. And while the engine is sittin there, why not just pick up a set of nice Aluminum heads, some forged pistons, and..............
