Will a lean-state harm a cat?

I am a bit lean at the moment, will it bother my cat? it's brand new, high flow. It smells like eggs out the exhaust on startup.

The biggest thing that will kill a cat is a misfire. So as long as its not so lean to cause a misfire you will be ok. While the rotton egg smell is not a common smell out the exhaust, it can be considered normal. It really depends on the air and fuel that goes into the engine.
