can i use auto xray to dianose fuel pump?
i have an autoxray scanner and i think my fuel pump is weak and might fail in the near future. can i use my auto xray to see if its not up to standards ifso what readings should i look at. i do not have a fuel pressure tester and around here they will tell you that your fuel pump is bad and you need to replace it reguardless if something is wrong with it.

Chris,
The scanner will not read fuel rail pressure. You need a pressure gauge for that, and that is the most effective way to test the fuel pump capability. A good pump should be able to produce at least 60 PSIG when dead-headed (no flow or return fuel from the regulator). The other test is a flow test, where the pump is allowed to pump fuel for fifteen seconds into an open container. A good pump should flow at least one pint in 15 seconds.
