The motor is not there to lift the rear hatch if that is what you are referring too. The struts are what causes the hatch to lift after the hatch release is pressed. You might want to look at replacing the struts. This is also assuming that this is a 3rd gen firebird, camaro, or berlinetta you're talking about.
yes its a 92 camaro rs... well it the motor that when u shut it . it pulls it down....... and when u push the button it lets it up.. well it doesnt do anything even with the hatch open.... the relay only clicks....... ... ive read that there is an extension relay or sometong on the motor itself......
the motor itself isnt running at all. u can open it with the key but the motor stays down.

Okay, the individual that you need to talk to is lonsal at Top Down Solutions (TDS). He is one of the vendors (sponsors) located at the top of the page. He can fix you right up or point you in the right direction.

Does the hatch open w/ the key ? Does the hatch NOT open at this point?
It's a minor miracle that our hatches even open at all w/ all that weight.
To me, if I can still open it w/ the key... and the hatch struts hold it up when needed... then, I'm dancin'.
This probably isn't what you're after though... try the 'miracle hatch opener' thread.

ya know. i think my car escaped from a mental health institute for automobiles or sumtin.. i mean i luv my baby but its getting wierd.. WELL my hatch now works and al i did was rechecked the fuses (the fuse was GOOD i swear and stilll was) but i thought hey ill put a different fuse in just to see what would happen and then it worked. Okie. so then i put the old one back in and it worked!!! again.. ... so either theres corrusion in the fuseblock or the fuse or i need to go back to the mental hospital and have my head examine.... thanks for all your guys help
