Am I doing damage????
Am I doing damage????
Ok bought the car last year from a guy who put a 350 crate engine in my 88 IROC. ANyways he cheaped and kept the 305 injectors and chip. Is it hurting my engine? I know my performance is hurt but what about my engine? Any Internal damage? Anyone know where to get 350 injectors cheap???
Thanks Guys

Matty is right, you could be running a bit lean, and if you take it on the highway or try to race, hit about 4500 RPM you could melt right though one of those pistons. I would replace the injectors ASAP. Cheap injectors are not your answer. Good injectors are. Ask you local Chevy car sales service guys. Nothing beats AC Delco. But SUMMIT RACING sells ACCEL injectors for $230 bucks, also check out www.jegs.com - (my favorite web site)
Well I dunno If your Gonna Lean out enough to melt a piston...
But You are prolly Lean none the Less.
When Oxygen Cant Find HC to combust, It starts looking For other things to Combust. Namely your pistons, valves, ECT.

Fuel injectors are more expensive than a adjustable fuel regulator.
A 350 can run on 305 injectors identically if not better (because of better atomization) by cranking the fuel pressure up to about 50 psi (+/-1psi) for a stock 350 tpi with the stock 350tpi cam. If it has a more radical cam you will need at least a chip (performance wise because it will run way too rich at idle and too lean on the top even with the right injectors)
Want to rest assured at least? Punch the sucker and run it up to redline and kill the ignition at max rpm in at least second gear while fully warmed up and coast to a stop (be careful because the power steering and brakes may wane out on you) and pull a plug (more than one is better) and see what it looks like. Black to gray (rich to perfect) gray to white (perfect to lean)
If they are a clean looking dark gray you should be ok...
The chip is just a 'drivability' thing. If you have good a/f mixture at wide open the most you are sacrificing is part throttle efficiency.
