Help...Spark in engine bay
I was putting a spark plug in today while I was doing my header install. Stupid me didnt disconnect the battery this time. While tightining the spark plug there was a spark. After that nothing powered up when I turned the keys. My alarm light was blinking rapidly and my horn kept beeping at a slow pace lightly. How bad did I mess up? What do you think happend? I have the battery unpluged now but I havent pluged it back in since im in the middle of a header install. Any help is appreciated.

The spark was from the spark plug to the wrench, possibly touching the head.

I don't know how the hell that can happen. There should be no electrical charge or even static electricity there. Did you happen to hit an wires, starter, or battery?

I dont think I hit anything at all. I know for sure I did not hit the battery. I was working on the last plug on the passenger side. I will look again tommorow to see if I may have hit something.

I was working on the #8 plug and I think I probably hit one of the starter wires.

take a good look at the rear in that area, you may have pinched the wire to the starter in the header flange if this is the case fix it before you hook up the batter and burn some major wiring. that is the only thing i think you could of done at that location.

Well I touched the negative cable to the battery and my alarm started going off with my horn. My bro said the instrument cluster lights were also blinking but the courtesy lights did not come on when he opened the door.

Another update: we plugged the negative all the way back into the battery and everything appears to be fine
