HP of 80-81 Z
Whats the stock HP of an 80 or 81 Z. I just got one of those suprize finds, I pulled the intake from brothers blown 305. I noticed it was AL so I checked the casting # 14014432 and it showed it was from 80-81 z-28. It was a good day.
Thanks
John

those are nasty smog engines. 170hp 350 was the best in 1980. For a stock intake, you have a good one. However, for around 100 bucks you could get a stealth intake that is way better.

actually, 80 was rated at 190 because of the functioning cowl hood. 81 was a non-operational scoop and it was rated at 170.

cowl hood won't help much off the line though.

I know it won't really help the bottom end, just answering the question. I don't know if there are any other diffences (cam, exhaust), but I do know that the cowl hood was at least one difference between the 80/81 model year. Wish I had an 80 to park beside my 85. They'd be so happy together!

Guys thanks
I have no intention on putting it on any motor at this time. I was just wondering if I should keep it around. I probably will, though.
Thanks
John
