Makeshift Converter Lockup Control?

I am changing the TBI system in the camaro to a highrise intake with a 650CFM carb. I have read up and it seems rather easy. All I have to do is pop off the old manifold, put on new one and carb, change to a non-computer HEI dist. and use a Converter Lockup Control on the torque converter. I have all the items except for the Converter Lockup Control. Summitt has it but its 160. Does anyone have "plans" for making one or know someone who sells them?

All it is, is a switch that sends 12V to the TCC solenoid.

The thing is, it needs to be somewhere real easy to get to as you drive, and real easy to undo when it's time to undo it. So it needs to be something that can go on the shifter or the steering wheel, and it needs to be a locking push on - push off kind of thing. For instance, a toggle switch on the dash, while it would work electrically, would suck to actually use.

As long as you don't butcher the factory harness, all you need to do is wire a switch between pins A and F of the ALDL under the dash.

For ideas on more permanent solutions, look here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...&highlight=TCC

There's also this tech article https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...ueswitch.shtml

What isn't commonly understood is the solenoid always has power (when the ignition is on and the brake pedal isn't depressed, that is). The ECM actually completes the current path by providing the ground.

By going the valve body switch route, you maintain all of the factory wiring in the car, and only make a minor change under the tranny pan.
