climate controls
does anybody have the part # for that round/disc thing thats attached to the back of the heater control.....when it goes bad the vents dont work right and it hisses....the heat just comes out of the defroster.............82Z28

i don't have the part number, but you may not even need it anyways. the problem you seem to have is common, so one "quick fix" i've heard of is to remove that vacuum tube assembly off the back of that switch, take a q-tip and dip in vaseline and apply it to the inside of each of those tubes. that may take care of the problem, but the real problem is that the "connector" and tubes get dried out and won't hold that seal very well. i read that here once before, but that was after i had taken more drastic measures to "fix it my way", which worked just as well - just a little more work involved. if you have a leak back there, your default is to the defrost, that's why it only comes out there. another helpful hint is when you pop those washer-like things off the posts off that tube assembly, have you a rag down in the area so it will catch them if you don't and you're not ripping things apart just to find those.
