Car: 1986 Pontiac Trans Am

Engine: 305, V8

Transmission: manual

starting problem

My 1986 Trans Am turns over at a good speed when i first try to start it, than it seems like the battery is almost out of juice, and the motor turns over really slow, than all of a sudden it has a boost of energy and turns over quickly and starts.

What is my problem????

Try to monitor the battery voltage with a DMM while an assistant cranks the engine.

I had an almost simular problem and it turned out to be the battery. The first time it would turn, the second time it wouldn't and the third time it would turn again.
