Advice? is it a bad fuel pump, or what
Hey okay i went and got the proper TBI pressure guage, hooked it up before the fuel filter(filter is new). Turned the ignition on, Nothing guage didnt move. Okay cranked the car, still nothing, guage didnt move, next to nothing comming out of the injectors, BUT i do hear the pump entergizing when you turn on the ignition. SO WTF? Am i using this guage wrong? Ive got it screwed onto the line comming from the tank, then screwed into the filter, beteen the to is a fitting hanging down that the guage hose screws into, from there it goes to the guage which has a clear hose hooked to a fitting with a button, when you push the button gas come out of the clear hose. but the guage doesnt move?
Don;t be so quick to condemn the pump. If the regulator is stuck open (leaking through) you will have the same symptoms. You can try to pinch the rubber fuel return line closed to help reveal that kind of regulator problem. If the pressure increases with the return line crimped, start looking at the regulator.
If that doesn't help, don't be so excited about dropping the tank just yet. You need to test pressure at the fuel filter first. Even a new filter can trap sediment and plug quickly, so a complete diagnosis is a good idea.
