Keep failing Emissions for CO%.... Help...
Hey guys,
I brought my 91 RS Convertable to the inspection station today. It failed for the 2nd time. This time its CO's were at .89% when its not susposed to be any higher than .65% What would cause this to be high? I know the engine has some burnt up oil in it from when my brother owned it.. (When I did the timing chain, it was caked on the block & cover.) Anyway, what other kinds of things would cause me to fail in this test? See my sig for my mods.
Thanks,
Mark Balistreri

First thing i would do is remove the k*n for the test. Other than that co's are caused by anything that will make your car run rich. Could also be a pcv problem.

Seems like I've already posted this answer once for you.... The cat can't turn CO into CO2 without oxygen. It can't miracle up the necessary missing oxygen atoms out of nowhere. That's what the AIR system is there for.
Put your car back together right, it will sail right on through.
The schmutz in the crankcase has nothing to do with the issue at hand. Neither does the K&N. I'd leave those things alone and proceed directly to the root cause of the problem.

I hate when I bite myself in the A$$. I knew taking that AIR off would be a bad idea. Unfortuantely, since I threw away the AIR stuff... I guess I will have to buy a sticker.
