installing oil pump screen

I just got my new oil pump and screen, but it seems impossible to join the two together. It seems like the screen tubing is too big for the opening in the oil pump. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Everyone does. It's an interference fit. I slowly tapped mine in with a block of wood and a hammer. Take your time, you don't want to damage the tube. After it's in have it tack welded in place.

open end wrench works good to get it on with. i wouldn't weld the tube to the pump, instead weld a brace on the tube and bolt it to the pump.
