right turn...swish goes the wiper.......
right turn...swish goes the wiper.......
When I turn my right turn signal on, the wiper will go one time. Sometimes, it does it when it switches off. This is on my work truck (92 S-10) There is no cruise, but it does have inter. wipers.BTW, I read this some time ago, but could not find it in the archives
Thanks
Jeremy

My guess would be something wrong with the turn signal lever, since this is the only place the wires for the 2 are close together. Autozone sells new ones for like $40. My guess is that the contact for the tun signal is also hitting one one for the wipers. Hold down the turn signal lever and see if the wipers stay on, that will tell.

The real problem is that it does it only part of the time, although it is getting more common. is the $40 stem just a cheap replacement, or can I still have my wipers and turn signals on the same stem?

The problem is most likely in the steering column.
I've had several thirdgen columns apart and the only wires that actually come from the multifunction lever are the cruise wires. The rest of them are actually switches built into the socket that the lever plugs into... this includes the wipers and the turn signals.
My guess is somewhere in the column the two wires have an intermittent short together.

Is this something a normal person can fix? I have never tore into a column except for replacing the turn signal cam.

It's a pain. Make sure to tie the new one onto the old harness and pull it through.
If you just pull the old one out, it's very difficult to get the new harness through the column. Guitar string works ok.
The Help parts has them, they look identical to the GM's.
