What you should replace depends on when you last had a tune up, and what you replaced at that time (and since then). Don't spend big bucks on glamour spark plugs. By "glamour" I mean plugs that are marketed with triple this, special tips, etc. I had a friend whose dad worked for a lab (he also was a road racer). The father said that those fancy plugs aren't worth the price. Personally, I just use Bosch Platinum plugs that run about $1.50ea. (or around that range). But, as per what brand you should use, that's a personal thing (like what brand oil you use).

What else you should get also depends on how much you are willing to spend. One person's tune up may include just plugs and wires; while another person's definition of a tune-up will include cap and rotor, new filters (air, breather, fuel), PCV valve, etc.

If you don't have some performance parts catalogs (Summit Racing, Jegs, etc.), you may want to get one. If you call 'em up they'll usually send one out to you at no cost.

The good thing about your local auto parts store is convenience. You can walk in and get the parts you need. If you get stuff mail-order, you have to wait longer, but the parts will usually be of better quality (parts will come from name brand companies that people have actually heard of) than what you can find in the local stores. To be fair some parts store chains do carry performance name brand parts; but, the selection will not be as great as a performance oriented businesses.

That's just one gearhead's opinion.

I have to second with what Coach said. I would just go to your local Napa or Autozone or whatever and get an AC/Delco cap, rotor and rapid fire plugs. I used a Napa Gold fuel filer and PCV Valve. I also bought my belts and hoses from Napa and they all worked fine. Also, while you are there, buy a can of GB 44K fuel system treatment (the $25 is WELL worth it). I would use Summit or Jegs to buy a high quality set of ignition wires and a coil if you want to. Most feel that the Accel 300+ 8.8mm Race Wires are the best. I hope this helps!
