I timed my car the other day, I set it at about 14* advanced with the EST disconnected, does that sound about right, or should I go for more?

Best ET (w/o LT4 cam): 14.32 @ 97.7mph
(corrected for elevation)

Soon to Come: 7.625" 10 Bolt with 3.42s and Accel TPI Intake Base

 

Sounds perfectly reasonable, Does it Ping ?

if not, Go for more! )


Altho< if you get to Much your knock sensor is gonna start playing games with your Head.

Im Not to Sure what the best procedure is with the TPI.

What does ping/detonation sound like, will I know for sure when I hear it, or is it something I will have to look for?

best way to check for ping is with a scanner since you have EST. most people refer to ping as "the valves rattling"

ping sounds like something in your engine rattling around.. sorta like the sound you would get if you were clanging a wrench inside a small can... weird thing is, it sounds nothing like ping, more like a rattle..

stock TPI should be around 6 BTDC
