What sensor is this?

Two questions:

Can a bad coolant temp sensor cause (in a roundabout way) a code 33 to be set?

Second, what is the sensor next to the temp coolant sensor? It is in the front of the intake manifold and looks like the temp sensor, but bigger. I can post a picture if nobody knows offhand.

BTW, the car is a stock 305 TPI - 1988

The coolant temp sensor isn't a major sensor that decides airflow, so i do see it causing a 33 with out a code for itself also.
