What should I trap/ET?
What should I trap/ET?
I know this is a dumb question, but I can't resist. Given a perfect tune and run, what would my car run in the 1/4? The specs are:
89 GTA
M5
built 350
LT4 hotcam
1 3/4" slp headers
edelbrock performer heads
super ram intake
Emissions crap, AC, etc etc are still hooked up. I plan on having a single 3 inch mandrel bent system on it soon, so factor that into the estimate.
I do not know the CR unfortunately but I assume it is somewhat high to match the cam. The only reason I'm asking this is that my car needs a tune badly, and it will be at least a month or 2 before I have fixed enough of its issues to have it dynotuned. I will try to get some baseline numbers at the track in 2 weeks.

you really can't ask that question... you just have to go to the track and test it out. everything depends on how well the car runs, how good the driver is, how much traction are you going to loose, and a bunch of other variables. i could say you might run mid 13's, but i might be wrong and you run a 14.3. i knew a guy who told me he had headers, hot cam, torque converter and a 350 block in his camaro. he thought he was going to run low 13's... u know what he ran? mid 15's, i think it was high 15's actually but ill give him the benifit of the doubt because he's a board member and im down with him. the only way to find out what you're really running is to take it to the track and run the living crap out of it. to have your car dyno tuned, you need to take it to a shop that'll sit down with your car for an entire day, burn a prom, dyno your car, calibrate and reburn the prom, dyno the car again, and the cycle goes on and on and on till they find the sweet spot on the car and you can't get anymore power out of it. it's not that easy to find a shop that'll tune your car like that, but it can be done. and it cost a pretty penny too... somewhere between the $400-$500 price range, maybe a little more. you get what you pay for, and if you go all out on your dyno tune, you'll get a bad *** tune. but if i had to guess at what your car would run, with that cam, those heads and the sr (could have matched the heads, cam and intake better), i'd say low 13's with an off-the-chain tune... but while it's not tuned, i dont know if you'd even touch 13's. it just depends on how badly your car needs that tune. hope everything turns out alright... later
Yeah sorry for the lame post but I couldn't help myself. I was just wondering if I had a chance at 12's and it looks like I don't. I do plan on getting a high dollar dynotune cause I know it will be well worth the money...
