Ticking noise from intake....
Ticking noise from intake....
There is a pretty loud ticking sound comming from what seems to be the intake, does anyone know what this could be?

The ticking sound is constant throughout the RPM range, idle to redline. I do think it is comming from the intake, moreso on the passenger side, its incredibly hard to pin-point.

What would make an injector do that? How could I fix it?

Could it be the rockers that are just naturally noisy? Or maybe an exhaust leak?

from what you describe, all signs point to AN EXHAUST LEAK!!! thats it, nothing more, nothing less...if it hasnt been done before, there is no gasket in there. its just metal to metal. try tightenng the bolts, just bend the keepers out of the way, this is a beeeaach on the passenger side,(which is where 90% of the exhaust leaks i know of happen)its real tight in there. if that wont work, just save up enough money for some headers, and take it to a shop and get it done all at once. driving around with that ticking sound wont hurt anything except your nerves. if not, just get a shop to install a exhaust gasket. that would do the trick

99.8% sure it is an exhaust leak either at the header gasket or collector gaskets. I have to tighten all my bolts once a month to keep everything quiet. Collector gaskets seem to blow out a lot. Start the car cold and run your hand along the spots I mentioned and you should be able to feel air coming out where it is leaking. Oh yeah hurry when you do this....it gets hot quick!!

Yeah, unless you can find it, or correlate it with a problem, i would just say it is the normal injector noise and you're just now noticing it. Otherwise, we're all just guessing.

I guess I should try tightening my headers down. I pulled them off when I pulled the heads when installed my new cam. I didn't replace the donut gaskets on the collector to y-pipe area, but it doesn't sound like its comming from down there.

This same problem plagued me for nearly 2 weeks before I figured it out. My #8 cylinder had a leak in the header to flange weld. Not the gasket. Worse? It was on the bottom of the pipe. Try that one. My tick is constant from idle to redline and I know it is my stupid header. Almost impossible to take that passenger side header off. But it builds character.
Id say injector noise or an exhaust leak, cause my car has an exhaust leak right now and sounds like that.

sounds like,,an injector ,,,,or a leak,,,i will take the leak,,, you will know if an injector is faulty,,,,,you can feel it ...the injectors do make a tick,,,GET A piece of hose put it in the genaral area,,,stick it near your ear,,,you will hear it,,,real good,,,if you dont mind the grease put it in your ear,,,it works real fine,,,,i would take the leak ,,check it out,,first,,,the hose is a free item and it works
It sounds like your cam is not getting enough oil to it. get your oil pump checked out
