Still Have Idle Problems!

have changed the o2 sensor and coolant sensor, still trouble when starting cold but now also when starting warm. it will idle fine until as soon as i put it in gear it dies. have to put one foot on the gas and brake then as soon as i go about a block it is fine. drives ok otherwise.

Take out IACV and clean it. It's probably hanging up because it's dirty!

Could be a choke problem? I don't know much about comp. controlled Q/jet but I thought only TBI had IAC valves.
On a regular Q/jet I would try backing off the idle speed screw and opening up the A/F ratio screws a little. Could be a vacuum leak also. Check your vacuum lines to the PCV valve and pwr brake booster. It would take a pretty good size leak to kill the motor at idle. After you get it running ok, how does it do? Will it idle then? If you have the idle speed adj. screw in too far, your getting passed the idle circut causing a rich condition that would cause you to lean out the A/F ratio to get it to idle smooth but then it will die when you drop it in gear. I could be off base here, but like I said, I'm not a comp. cont. Q/jet expert!

My bad I thought it was fuel injected. The primary choke pull of is most likely the culpret.

runs good once warmed up. except when started again but dies when put into gear. also noticed that when in gear after driving a while the idle is smooth. but when put in park can hear the idle rough. i did take the belt off the AIR system but havent removed it yet. also could it be the egr? does the solenoid activate when put in gear?
