well this sucks...

i've had my engine torn down for a while now and intended to leave the rotating assy in place since there was no wear in it. in the meantime, heads came off and going to the shop. was waiting on new cam and springs to get it all done. so all that stuff comes in today and i pulled out my old cam and guess what? cam bearings are pretty much shot. does it suck to be me, or what?

the new bearings are really cheap, and you could rent a cam bearing driver. have you ever put cam bearings in before? and if the cam bearings are shot why are the mains still not worn down?

nope, never put cam bearings in before. hell, i haven't even torn an engine down this far before. i've helped someone else doing most of the work, that's about it. as far as why the mains aren't shot, couldn't tell you. crank is still in the block right now, but initially, everything looked good. cylinder walls still have a lot of cross-hatch in some of them, and lifter valleys are clean.
