Oil Dipstick....where can i get one
i've looked in alot of places so far the best i've found was in year one catalog and it shows pre 79 V8 86 and later V8, big blocks and LS1's.....where can i find one for my 84 L69. i don't want a universal, or will the 86 and later fit.
EDIT: i need the tube, not just the stick

Don't know- always stole mine off of junkyard motors. But if you need it, you NEED it. Pay the price and you'll know you're getting a new unit that will actually read the correct oil level in the engine.

Get the tube and stick together, as a set. They can be different lengths and therefore not read right.
They're cheap. REAL CHEAP. Like totally not worth bothering about. I think I paid $18 or something for a set at the local speed shop last time I needed one.

I agree with what RB says about getting them as a set. I know that they are different lengths between a 1987 motor and a 1992 motor (although they are otherwise identical) becuase I was playing mix-n-match a few months back trying to get a set that woud complete one of my projects. They fit the same and bolted to all the same stuff but the 1992 unit was definitely a few inches different in length.

For the life of me I could not find a parts store that had a dipstick for an 89bird with a 305. Sure they sold the dipsticks but not the tube. I needed the tube, the old one had to be cut in half because it was being a pain during my header installation. Had to go to the dealership where they charged me 30 bucks for the stick and tube, freaking rip but ya gotta have one.
