Cam lift Question.

I hav recently purchased a set of vortec heads and I was planning on running a comp cams extreme energy 268 cam but I am wondering if I will need to put new springs in because the likt on the exhaust side is .48 and the max on the stock springs is .48 as well. Has anyone had any problems running this much lift with these heads? or have any suggestions?

The vortec heads as they come from GM are supposed to be able to only handle .450" lift. But...I've heard of ones that have run up to .490", not sure if they were aware if there was any problems.

Wooe, Nellie!

Since you should already be planning to machine the spring seats to a larger diameter (for the larger springs that you are going to have to install) you might as well trim the tops of the valve guides for clearance while you are there.

So what's the question?
